About UsCowra Ballet School is a family owned and operated dance studio located in the Central West of NSW.
We were established in 1969, with a mission to provide ballet classes to young girls in Cowra. Fast forward more than half a century, and you have yourself a well established, successful and reputable business, who is proud to change the lives of over 160 students every year. Our studio space is large and contains all the necessary facilities to host dance classes every afternoon of the week. |
Philosophy of Dance Education
Teachers can be some of the greatest and most memorable role models for children.
Teachers have the capacity to have a great impact on a student.
Teachers have the opportunity to help shape the future and change the world.
Following the pedagogy of well-known social psychologist, Lev Vygotsky, our studio is socially endorsed, while students work collaborative with each other, as well as with their respected teacher. Within a healthy and supportive environment, we aim to teach the whole person; through cognitive knowledge, affective understanding, and kinaesthetic learning.
Students in each class form part of a bigger studio community, who rely on one another for support and encouragement, while maintaining personal responsibility for their role in learning.

Our Team
We currently have eight members that make up our team, who collectively share a passion for dance and education.
With dance in her blood, Hayley is a third generation business owner of Cowra Ballet School. She started teaching dance at the age of 15, and took over as owner of CBS in 2017.
Bachelor of Dance Education - Aust. College of Physical Education (2014) Diploma of Dance Teaching - Royal Academy of Dance (2014) Dare to Lead Certified (2021) Acrobatic Arts Certified (2022) "First, I was a dancer - where my passion blossomed. A teacher second - and I could share my passion with younger generations. And it warms my heart to be a business owner third, which is how I can share my passion with other teachers and like minded people." |
Mrs Munday has been a pioneer of dance in Cowra and the Central West. Although her physical dance experience is limited, her passion for dance and performing arts certainly isn't.
She has fostered the love of dance for thousands of local students, over the 50+yrs in her involvement with CBS. She loves experiencing the joy a student feels when they "get it" after trying and trying! Mrs Munday is also a member of a number of local cultural groups in Cowra, including being a life member of the Cowra Eisteddfod. "Love and enjoy everything that you do!" |
Miss Michelle began her journey at CBS as a little 6yr old. Despite leaving Cowra for a period of 15yrs to pursue a career in K-6 Education. We were thrilled to welcome her back to the studio in 2015.
Her dancing experience spans from independent studios to government schools, small town productions to the Sydney Opera House stage. Just quietly, she is super proud to have been Miss Hayley and Miss Lisa's teacher back in the day! By day, Miss Michelle works as a Special Needs Carer, and you will often see her in the community supporting her clients. "Dance to express, not to impress." |
Most of Anne's working life has been as a hairdresser, locally and in Sydney.
Anne was originally involved with Cowra Ballet School as a dance mum before moving to Sydney and working in her own business. In 2021 when Anne and her family moved back to Cowra, CBS was eager to utilise her skills in business, employing her as admin assistant. "I love seeing the growth of all dance students over the years both in their ability and personality." |
Miss Lisa has been a CBSer since the age of three - "You can't keep me away from this amazing school" are the words she uses to describe her passion.
She has a Certificate IV in Performing Arts and a Certificate III in Fitness, with 12 consecutive years of teaching to back it up! She has an impressive list of professional experiences, including being a dancer and singer on cruise ships around the world, and performing in the Sydney Olympic Games opening ceremony in 2000. She loves the amazing feeling when a student succeeds in a move that they have worked so hard to get!!! |
